The story is about a girl named Bertha who is full of life. She is full of happiness and bliss. She lives with her husband Harry and her nanny who takes care of her baby named Little B. She is very excited because she is having a dinner party tonight for a few people. She is planning for tonight all day and when the people start coming they are all wondering where Harry is. 5 minutes into the party here Harry making his dramatic entrance that he loves to do. Bertha has wanted to see Miss. Fulton for awhile. They meet in a club once and Bertha feel in love with her. Bertha couldn’t wait to see her and talk to her. When Bertha didn’t think Miss. Fulton was coming here she came, all in silver looking amazing as ever. Oh they all just sat around and talked and had a good time. Later on Bertha asked Miss Fulton to come get something with her.
I ready didn’t like the story that much. I didn’t understand some of the story. I didn’t like how I thought that Bertha liked Miss. Fulton because she always talked about her. I also thought that Miss Fulton and Harry had a little something going on. Maybe I’m wrong but that’s just what it sounded like at the end of the story. Maybe if I understood some parts of the story it would have maybe been better.
Some similarities that I can see between Chrysanthemums and Bliss would have to be, they both have plants in the story that represents a big part of the story. The main characters in both stories are female and they both aren’t really happy in their lives but the put on a kind of show to make it seem that they are happy.
I chose the pear tree. I chose this because she is really a nice and beautiful girl inside and the tree kind of brings that out of her. It brings out who she really is inside with out being to fake. The tree can never try to be something its not, so maybe when Bertha looks at the tree, in a way she sees herself being who she really is inside.
Maybe because she is really happy but maybe a little to happy to see what is going on. She did like Miss. Fulton a lot but as she wasn’t paying any attention to her husband it seemed that he was taking some liking to Miss. Fulton also but Bertha was to happy about the night she didn’t notice.
At the end of the story I thought maybe that Miss. Fulton and Harry might be having a little affair. At the end Harry whispered to her “Tomorrow” and then Miss. Fulton said “Yes” so what I got from that was that they were going to be meeting somewhere. The last line of the story, But the pear tree was as lovely as ever and as full of flower and as still, means that no matter what happens to Bertha and Harry, on the inside she is still as pretty and nice as ever. Its like she tries to make everyone happy and it didn’t get anywhere so maybe she will start being true to herself.

Grandmother
Hypothesis-Courageous
Example one on dialogue-The grandmother tries to tell the Misfit he is a good man. "Listen," the grandmother almost screamed. "I know you're a good man. You don't look a bit like you have common blood. I know you must come from nice people!"
Example two on dialogue-The grandmother tries to be nice to the Misfit and try to carry a conversation on with him. "Yes it's a beautiful day," said the grandmother. "Listen," she said, "you shouldn't call yourself The Misfit because I know you're a good man at heart. I can just look at you and tell."
Example three on dialogue-Even when the grandmother hears the gun shots going off in the woods where her family was she still tried to be strong and tell the Misfit he is a good man. "Jesus!" the old lady cried. "You've got good blood! I know you wouldn't shoot a lady! I know you come from nice people! Pray! Jesus, you ought not to shoot a lady. I'll give you all the money I've got!"

The story starts out with a family vacation to Florida. On there way the grandma notcied a road on the right that she had been down before. So after fighting They got so far and she didnt say anything but she realize this wasnt the right road, the right road was in Tennessee now on our way to Florida. Then the cat jumped onto the mans shoulder and they crashed into a ditch. After awhile when they got out of the car a car pulled up with three men. They started walking down the hill to the family. After awhile the grandma kept standing at the one man. she then remembered the man who was loose from jail. it was the man. then as she started talking to him the other to men took the rest of the family down over the hill and killed him. shot them i believe. Later on they then took the grandma over the hill with the rest of them and killed her to. I did like the story at the beginning but then at the end when they all died, i didnt like that. maybe children should listen to their parents more often because the grandma told her son not to go to florida because there was a man loose and she wanted to go to Tennessee.
Situational Irony of the Lottery:
Where i would think the woman would win money since its the lottery instead of seeing a black dot and getting killed for it.
Dramatic Irony of the Chaser:
When the boy wants the love potion but doesnt know how the girl acts and we do, well as the man had described the girls to act wasnt a good thing.

This story i thought didnt really make sense to me.first there was a boy trying to find an old man with potions. well one night he finds him and asks him about some potions he has. The old man tell him about a potion that can kill. but it was $5,000 and the boy didnt really think that would suit him very well. then he asked about a love potion. The old man said it was i think $1.00. The boy was very excited about this potion and he paid the man. The old man tried to tell him all the bad things like, the girl wont leave you alone. and she will do anything for you. The boy didnt see any harm in that so he took the potion. The old man told the boy that many people by this potion and they all seem to come back for something different. but the boy didnt agree and he was excited and left.

Everyone was standing on the square waiting to see who gets the lottery. Everyone was standing around and they were all given a piece of paper. There was little kids picking up rocks and putting them in their pockets. At the same time everyone opened the papers to see who got the black dot on their paper. The Hutchinson family had the paper with the black dot. I think it was really her son but Mrs. Hutchinson didnt think it was fair so the whole family put the papers back in to a box and drew again as a family. This time Mrs. Hutchinson got the paper with the black dot. As she was saying how unfair it was while walking back they begain to through rocks so she would pass on.

The story starts out as a young princess had a young man lover who was now on trial for having an affair with the young princess. The young princess had suspected that her lover was having an affair with her maid since she was so pretty. So then they went to an arena and the young lover had to pick which door he wanted. Behind one dorr there was a tiger and the other door there was the pretty maid. I think thats why the princess wanted and hoped the lover would pick the door on the right because thats where the tiger was. I think when she thought about it she couldnt see her lover with anyone else and she would rather him be dead then not be with her.

As the man is waiting for the other men to step off the board so that Peyton would fall and the rope would hang him Peyton went to a flasback about what he was doing when he had gotten started in this whole mess. It happened when a solider came to their place and asked for a drink of water and Peyton started talking to the young man. Later in the story Peyton flashes back to being with his wife. One minute he is running to his wife the next he as a sharp pain in his neck. He was actually being hung and at the end they say he is swinging back and forth on the bridge dead.
